For many years, my life was wonderfully full — raising five children, farming alongside my husband, and keeping up with a busy household of seven. There was always somewhere to be, something that needed doing, and plenty of reasons to think, we’ll take the photos another time.
Those five children have now spread their wings, although thankfully they still circle back to the farm pretty often. And somewhere along the way, I realized just how quickly those wonderfully busy years had passed.
My photography journey began when I received a camera for Christmas and decided to take a few photography classes. What started as learning how to use that camera grew into something I never really expected — a love for preserving people, connection, and the ordinary moments that become increasingly meaningful with time.
Today, my husband and best friend of more than 30 years still lovingly shakes his head at some of my ideas. Together we own and operate a mixed farming operation in Tiger Lily, northwest of Edmonton. I wasn't raised on a farm, but after all these years I can confidently say I've mastered the role of “gopher.”
When I'm not behind the camera, you'll probably find me trying something new, learning another skill, enjoying good food (or photographing it before anyone is allowed to eat it), or attempting to garden. I love gardening. Whether the garden loves me back is another story.
All of these pieces of my own life have shaped the way I photograph yours.
I know families aren't perfect. Children don't always cooperate. Life is busy, homes are lived in, and there never seems to be a perfect time to take the photographs.
But I've learned that maybe that's the point.
I want your time in front of my camera to feel relaxed, heartfelt, and welcoming. You don't have to perform or have everything perfectly put together. Just come as you are.
I'll look for the laughter, the quiet glances, the little hands reaching for yours, and all those beautiful in-between moments that make your family yours.
I'm still learning, still creating, and still incredibly grateful for every person who trusts me enough to step in front of my camera and become a small part of my journey.
Because someday, the everyday moments you're living right now may be the ones you miss the most.
